Incarceration, especially in the United States, is widely known to be a massive taxpayer burden— to the tune of over $52 billion per year (CITE p414). In 2012, the annual cost per inmate in the United States was approximately $21,000 for low risk inmates, and up to $34,000 for high risk offenders (CITE p386). Additionally, incarceration places a significant financial burden on the offenders themselves, because they would lose their current jobs, and any job prospects they would have in the future. In comparison, the judicial corporal system in Islamic criminal justice system costs significantly less due to the limited reliance on incarceration as a form of penal punishment. Proponents of the privatization of state and federal prisons in the United States argue that going private would decrease taxpayer burden, but in actuality, it would increase recidivism rates significantly, which defeats the purpose of privatizing prisons in the first place (CITE p414). In judicial corporal punishment under the Islamic justice system, the majority of the financial burden is placed on the offender’s family, who are expected to rehabilitate and deter the person from committing any further crime. Because we live in world that is rapidly growing and becoming more diverse than ever, it is critical that we gain the knowledge and understanding of other cultures values, worldviews, and way of communication. In this lecture, we will address the racial and ethnic tensions that exist in our school. In addition, there will be a short play demonstrating issues involving discrimination and stereotype. After receiving numerous of calls and e-mails from parents, staff members, and community members about frequent fights and racial graffiti on the school property, our Superintendent Walter Davidson formed an emergency task force. The purpose for this intervention is to solve the racial tension between our students and make our schools safe for every individual despite their race, gender, age, or ethnicity. Although there are some routes that we can take to defuse some of the racial activities and behavior problems that are taking place in our school, the desire to change has to come from within each student. The goal is to promote diversity in our school and to help students, teachers, and our entire staff, regardless of their race, gender, age, or ethnicity to overcome this racial tension. We have interviewed several students of different ethnic groups and they believe that the reason for racial tension evolving in our school and community is because one group may stereotype another group for the way they dress, or wear their hair. The author, Susan Glaspell, was born on July 1, 1876 in Davenport, Iowa. Over her lifetime she had become proficient in many different professions: Playwright, Actress, Novelist, and Journalist. For her works, she won an American Pulitzer Prize in 1931. The Provincetown Players was founded by Susan Glaspell and her husband, George Cram Cook. This was the first modern American theater company. Most of her works centered on current issues at the time such at gender roles between males and females. Susan Glaspell was not the typical woman of her time, she decided to go to school and get herself an education and find herself a her own career instead of waiting around for a husband. Answer: Assessment 1 Effective planning approach was required by the managers regarding the expansion of the seating arrangements and preparation of the stock of the food in the kitchen (Mok et al., 2013). These are the certain arrangements; those are required in order to manage the work processes effectively. Synchronizing of the activities at the workplace related to the delivering of the efficient customer service was required. The workload of each of the team members or the staff needs to be divided with more work and this would have helped in running the work processes smoothly. There were several problems in the workplace in the Boleros Restaurant. One of the issues was regarding the lack of effective planning related to the sitting arrangements and the extra stock of the food in case of more number of guests. Another issue was delaying in providing the food items to the customers and this could be improved with the extra stack of the food or by improving one or two more Chefs (Buhalis and Crotts, 2013). The children started disturbing other customers which could have been reduced by informing the customers to take care of their kids or by offering some sweet to them. This can be prevented from re-occurring by planning regarding the extra seating arrangements, delivering of extra food items within the time provided and by providing effective customer support to the clients. 2. One of the vital issues is that Fred and Wilma do not manage to clean the guest rooms and the foyer after check out of the guests. The cleaning of the kitchen and the staff areas were not properly done. The rooms were not cleaned before the arrivals of the new guest and after the check out of the previous guest and this was another issue that affected the business practices of the Hotel. There was the lack of the cleaning services by the team members. There needs to be a monitoring department or a team of two or three members who should monitor the desired activities and the performances of the staff members along with the team should evaluate the cleaning processes is done on a regular basis (Testa and Sipe, 2012). The division of the workload should be with the allocation of time that in the given time the particular work needs to get completed. The assessing of the workload of the staff needs to be done in a systematic approach following a scheduled routine. Evaluation of the performance activities, as well as the feedback from the customers, will help in rectifying that the issues which need to be improved by Frank and Josie. They might have provided the responsibility to one or two particular people to monitor the cleaning of the rooms and to make the rooms fresh and cleaned for the new guests coming to the Hotel (Raj and Griffin, 2015). This strategy would have helped Frank and Josie in enhancing the effectiveness of the business practices of the entire hotel in front of the clients.
